One‐Pot Reductive Amination of Aromatic Aldehydes in [Et <sub>3</sub> NH][HSO <sub>4</sub> ] using Sodium Borohydride and A Mechanistic Investigation using Computational Method

The reductive amination of aromatic aldehydes and amines, performed in the Brønsted acidic ionic liquid [Et3NH][HSO4], using sodium borohydride as a reducing agent is reported. In this protocol, plays crucial role efficiently converting to amines excellent yields, without formation side products. presence imine was generated situ from reaction between underwent smooth reduction with borohydride. This one-pot synthesis practically simple sustainable. catalyst [Et3NH][HSO4] also has demonstrably wide applicability, that it can be used variety substituted by various electron-withdrawing electron-donating groups. IL catalytic validated help density functional theory (DFT)-based computational studies.
